He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, the Santana Blues Band, going mostly under the title "Santana," which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his often high-pitched and distorted guitar lines set against Latin American instrumentation such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Chad Robert Turton-Kroeger (born November 15, 1974 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada) is the lead singer and lead guitarist for the rock band, Nickelback. Born as Chad Robert Turton, he later adopted the surname of his half-brother, Mike Kroeger. Chad Kroeger was born in Hanna, Alberta, 226 kilometers northeast of Calgary, and some time later joined a cover band. Eventually they got tired of playing other people's songs, and singer/guitarist Chad Kroeger put together a collection of his own songs, borrowed money from his stepfather, and went to Vancouver to record the band in a friend's studio. Based on the results, Kroeger's bassist brother, Mike, and pal guitarist Ryan Peake all relocated to Vancouver in 1996; that same year, they recorded and released the EP Hesher and full-length Curb independently, then embarked on a series of cross-country tours. Chad uses Paul Reed Smith (PRS), Gibson and Gretsch electric guitars. He also uses Morgan, Martin, Yamaha and Tacoma acoustic guitars.
