Description:

This is a new invention. This windmill starts making electricity from windspeed of 2m/s. Its sails contract and expand as the wind speed changes.

Have you tried this with a triangular sail. you might get some lift and a better tip speed ratio. You might have to change how your micro processor controls the sails for highest performance in that case. Please let me know what you think about that.

Each sail has a differential with 2:1 ratio which is connected to the main differential of 1:1 ratio. Main differential is connected to (i dont know the exact word)---> wind director

A fascinating machine! It looks as if you change the pitch of the sales cyclically under control of the top vane. How did you decide on the range of pitch variation, and does this range vary dynamically with wind speed?

Show us more...take some more shots of the transmission, controller and hookups and details of the unfurl mechanism please. Very interesting contraption.

Strong winds are not common in Pannonian Valley, Croatia so this has never happened. Maximum RPM measured counts to 15 but torque I have not measured as I do not have appropriate measuring instruments

Control unit(microprocessor type) controls sails either manually or automatically. When energy is not needed or when windmill needs some attention, unit is switched to manual control and the sails are contracted. On automatic control the sails expand when RPM is less then 5 and contract when more than 9RPM. In case of control unit failure, strong wind would tear the sails but the construction would remain intact.

What's the highest or maximum RPM readings taken? Lowest? Torque readings?
