Description:

In October 1994, the KPB Instrument Design Bureau introduced the Kornet (AT-14) ATGM system. The Kornet was developed introducing a laser beam-riding missile with automatic command-to-line of sight (SACLOS) guidance. The operator simply has to keep the sight on the target to ensure a hit. The laser beam-riding system is also less vulnerable to countermeasures. The Kornet was specifically designed to replace the Konkurs, which has been in service with the former Soviet and Russian armies for over twenty years. The Kornet, which has a claimed ability to penetrate 1100 to 1200 millimeters of steel armor protected by explosive armor, provided a formidable antitank weapon system. However, even with the improved capabilities the Kornet has over earlier systems, an ATGM with all-weather, day or night, immunity to countermeasures, and fire and forget capabilities was still highly desired.

thats not including active/reactive armor isreali tanks now have both so now just brute force wont work your math skills wont get you through combat anymore israel does not use challegers by the way they use their own tanks. lets say isreal pushed all the way and took heavy losses, ok they have taken out hezbollah no need to worry about them, have a foothold near syria/buff

regardless of losses? for Israel? they can not afford "regardless of losses" Most tanks were not hit with kornet, and those that were, were pobably out of action permanently, because Kornet is estimated to have 1200mm penetration. Note though, that RPG-29 with estimated 750 mm penetration penetrated 1000 mm estimated Challenger 2 front hull. RPg-29 is 105 mm calibre, Kornet is 152 mm calibre. I am sure you can do the math yourself.

isreal stoped on its own bro personnaly i think they shoulda taken it all the way and destroyed hezbollah regardless of losses. also they only lost older tanks like upgraded pattons and m113's and as 8m293 said most tanks thatwere hit were brought back to the line within a week.

The first one who spoke about this rocket was the israeli them selves, and they blamed Russia. In some leb newspapers they interviewed some Hizbollah members and they said this rocket used in the last days specially in al-Houjeil Valley and they showed many pictuers of destroyed merk-4s.. also Isreal showed video for siezing these rocket, and there is a french report about this rocket in south Lebanon you can find it in Youtube...
