fittaslickar, you are actually wrong. The TU-144, or charger, was flawed in design. The wings were not aerodynamic, it was weighted down with unnecessary technology, overall it was a failure, which is why it was discontinued in 1984, unlike the Concorde, 2003.

@Shahzeb2007 : That's the point of breaking the sound barrier. You go at least as fast as the sound, so it can't reach you. The same thing happens in military ssonic fighters. When they passe the sound barrier, pilot didn't hear anything else coming from outside, even the reactor.

costly yes, half the passenger yes... but was it a profit? yes. just that it isnt a confortable ride and it needed to be updated which there was no point

The pilot does hear the sound of the plane, of course. The air inside the plane and its structure transmit it. It's just the same as in a car: a person outside will hear a weeeeeoooouuuu as it goes by, but the person driving it will just hear the motor as it sounds: grrrrrrrrr
