Black pride is a way of saying to a hostile white world, "your conception of us means nothing to us." It can be part of taking control of one's destiny, a strategy of winners. We have experienced a wide variety of racist responses from others . . . not just from the whites, but also blacks and others. Neither of us have ever regretted marrying each other. We love each other whole heartedly and would never change our relationship, simply because others are intolerant.
