Description:
I get a little rambly toward the end there. Actually, I think I'm rambling through the entire thing. But, I ramble more toward the end. Oh well, deal with it. (Also, I said the chapter wrong once, it is 1 cor. 14:34) Apparently God slipped cultural things into his holy word. That's why he doesn't get pissed off if you eat shrimp or wear a polyester track suit anymore. Sorry it's ridiculously looooong. I didn't mean for it to happen, I swear. |

amadea3 ::: Favorites Sophia's world I meant, a novel on history of philosophy (if you heared of it) 07-08-22 16:59:56 _____________________________________________________
amadea3 ::: Favorites btw, i read Spohia's world and I recall an interesting comparisson that the author made - between Jesus and Socrates; so ancient greek spirit wouldn't neccessarily mean a contradiction with christianity. I mean, confessing that one knows very little (but the others don't realize even that - Socrates) isn't really contradicting christian search for truth, the mystery of salvation, which even angels want to understand as the Bible says. 07-08-22 16:57:39 _____________________________________________________
amadea3 ::: Favorites yes that's true; I wonder if these people would recognize Him; i think those really wise would; 07-08-22 15:44:01 _____________________________________________________
malehawk ::: Favorites Again amadea we have to look at the zeitgeist and the context, jesus's experience about educated people was the corrupt caste of the Phariseans and the tax collectors and the judges(Sanhedrin) who had nothing to do with the enlightened researches, philosophers and mathematicians of Hellenistic cities like Alexandria, Ephesos,Athens etc. 07-08-22 14:42:20 _____________________________________________________
malehawk ::: Favorites I will check it again, though i was not only reffering to scholars but to common people too, and if the bible mentions it,we were never taught about it in school where teachers didnt want to show contradiction between Ancient Greek spirit and Christianity. Later , of course ,we found out that it was a lie, or at least a misleading conclusion. 07-08-22 14:37:44 _____________________________________________________
amadea3 ::: Favorites but Jesus said "My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that is what pleased you." i guess it isn't really approprite to say that all uneducated people are somehow worth less than "educated" people; God looks at the heart; 07-08-22 06:43:26 _____________________________________________________
amadea3 ::: Favorites well that's not quite true... Paul admits that gentiles (or greeks, i can't find it right now, i can't exactly recall if he says scholars) consider the teaching of Jesus Christ stupid and nonsense... the Bible doesn't hide that; 07-08-22 06:42:40 _____________________________________________________ |
